On the eve of the opening of CoP22 in Marrakech, Ségolène Royal met with Frannie Léautier, Vice-President of the African Development Bank, home to the implementation unit for the Africa Renewable Energy Initiative agreed during CoP21.

Ségolène Royal and Frannie Léautier signed a partnership agreement between the French Republic and the African Development Bank regarding the implementation of the Initiative: as promised, France is contributing to the implementation unit's operation and activities.

This contribution will enable the intensification of the implementation unit’s activities to achieve the objectives of the Initiative: the development of 10 GW of renewable energy projects in Africa by 2020.
